The story behind The Basket
It started in a grocery store in Okinawa.
We were stationed there with the Navy when we walked into a San-A supermarket and noticed something we'd never seen in the U.S. — shoppers moving through the aisles with their own baskets. Not bags. Not totes. Baskets, and sold right there by the entrance.
Imagine the baskets you see in the grocery store, but yours.
We bought two. Brought them home. Kept using them — and everywhere we went, people stopped us to ask about them. Partly because of the Japanese writing. Mostly because they'd never seen anyone carry like that before. We got compliments constantly: "Convenient, smart — I want one!"
That's when we asked the question that started everything: why bags?
Nobody had a good answer. So we built one — designed from scratch for the way you actually live. The farmers market. The Trader Joe's run. The potluck. The picnic. All of it, one carry.
The Basket is what we wished we'd had all along. We think it's what you've been missing too.
